I am fascinated by the beauty and elegance of Chinese Ceramics. The colour, simplicity of design and the physical and visual strength of these objects influence my work. I am inspired by the colours of the landscape around me, particularly those that I see on bright, fresh, clear days, when the sky is a brilliant powder blue and the landscape is a mixture of crisp bright greens and earthy browns extending as far as the eye can see.

I produce a range of wheel-thrown stoneware ceramics, using the traditional green celadon and rich brown/black tenmoku glazes of the eastern tradition. The surface decoration and texture of each piece is produced using various techniques, by carving into the surface or applying decoration to depict the contours of nature.

My work continues to develop so that the functional and aesthetic aspects of each of my ceramics can be appreciated with equal emphasis and enjoyed everyday.
